Hi Everyone. I have been reading James Patterson since I stumbled upon one of his books called the Confessions of a Murder Suspect at the library a few years ago, and to be honest, I had to take the book back so I never got to finish it (*Cries uncontrollably*). I tried lots of other books but nothing compared to that book. One day I was in a charity shop and I saw a book by James Patterson (I think it may have been a book from his Stand Alone series) and I knew I had to buy it. I read it and I was so addicted I couldn’t put it down, when I did all I could think about was the book. Then I knew I’d found my author. So I went and made a list of all of his books (check out how organised I am) and then I would hunt high and low at the charity shops, which is how I built my collection of James Patterson books. I do have a few of his books on the Amazon Kindle app but most of them are in hardback. I think I have around 50 of his books (I lost count after 20!). Once I’d built my collection I had to make the hard decision of which series to read first, so I went with the Women’s Murder Club. There are technically 15 books in the series as the 16th book doesn't come out until March. About the series: The Women’s Murder Club is about a group of four women who help solve cases ,each of them having their own unique part to play. You have Detective Lindsay Boxer who is at the centre as she investigates the cases. Then there’s Claire Washburn who is the Chief Medical Examiner of San Francisco. Then we have the newbie, Yuki Castellano, who is a district attorney and last but not least Cindy Thomas the news reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle. Together they solve crimes in their home city of San Francisco and they often meet up at their favourite spot, Susie’s, to talk about clues and their personal lives. The series is written by the amazing James Patterson and If I have my facts correct most of series he co- writes with other author's, which I think is really nice idea. In 9th Judgement James teams up with the lovely Maxine Paetro. About the book: 9th Judgement is probably the most exciting book to date with lots of twists and turns. Lindsay is on the hunt for a jewellery thief, a murderous movie star and a killer with a blood feud against women and children, so the Women's Murder Club must come together again to help solve these horrible crimes that have scared the City. In the 9th instalment you learn more about Lindsay’s personal life and she makes a very big decision. My opinion on the book: There was so much packed into every chapter, I couldn’t get enough of the book. I love how James takes you on a journey with the characters and I actually feel like I know the characters personally. I feel like I’m there with them which helps me to visualise better. 9th Judgement is a thrill ride with lots of twists and turns and nothing is as it seems. For example, there’s more than meets the eye to the jewellery thief - when I learnt something unexpected about the thief I was genuinely shocked, it was a real WOW moment. The cases in this book weren't my favourite cases of the Women’s Murder Club but they were pretty juicy and I loved how the girls came together once again to solve them. They honestly give me squad goals. I wish I could tell you all about my favourite highlight from the book but I think I’d spoil it big time. All I’m going to say is that it involves Lindsay and her boyfriend Joe, and you’ll learn about it In chapter 7. You’ll have to read it to find out. I love James Patterson's writing style too. I never know what to expect from his books. They keep me on the edge of my seat and at the end of each chapter it leaves me gasping for more. Honestly I’m not kidding, every chapter is overflowing with thrills.
This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions from happy when Lindsay makes a life changing decision, to sad when the women and child killer strikes and I found myself sympathizing with the characters. Near the end something heartbreaking nearly happens to one of my favourite character's partner and when I read it my heart was beating so fast, with a wave of sadness hitting me. Thankfully, everything was okay and I could breathe again. The only bad thing I have to say is that I was hoping the end to have more of a cliff-hanger and I could have easily done with a few extra chapters, but overall it was a very enjoyable book and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a bit of excitement and thrill in their lives. I promise you once you pick it up you won’t want to put it down, its very addictive. If you decide to read 9th Judgement I would advise you to read the other books before as it is crucial so that you know the background of the characters. I hope this book review has inspired you to check out 9th Judgement as it is a really good book, I highly recommend it. I will leave a link below for where you can buy it from and a link to James's website. Is there any books you would like me to read and review let me know, as I'd love to hear from you. Stars: 4.5 out of 5.
