Hi Everyone, As I’m currently writing this I am sat on my balcony taking in the beauty of my house and surrounding areas. Today I had a lovely day swimming and doing some art. Speaking of art that’s what this weeks blog about. For the last 13 weeks I have been attending art classes taught by Amanda and Bri from the seasons art class and before our final week in two weeks (sobs uncontrollably) where we will be mounting about 5 pieces of our choice I thought I’d give you a sneak peak of a few I’m going to pick but I won’t show you them all so it’s a surprise for if I do a follow up blog. The aim of this project was to in large the horse from a small-scale to a big one and I found getting the shape relatively easy apart from the legs that were a bit testing. I got there after a lot of persistence. I’m not the best at shading so I struggled a bit on that but I think it has come out well. I’m so proud of how it has turned out and I’m going to be so happy to show this. When I found out the course curriculum I was so excited to learn that we would be doing a portrait of our pets. I’m not going to lie I was nervous to draw Macca because I wanted it to be good and to be a fitting tribute to my childhood family companion. I enjoyed using oils pastels for this and I had so much fun doing it and I am beyond proud of my first pet portrait. I’m very pleased at how it has turned out and I can’t wait to hang it up!!. What drew me to paint this picture was the colours and how dreamy it looks. I loved using watercolours for the bird. I think it gives it a floaty and pretty look. I was stunned at how well it has come out. My favourite thing about it is how all the colours just flow on the stomach.
It has been a dream of mine to learn to paint and draw and, everything that is involved with being an artist for quite some time. I’m happy and proud of the pieces I have produced. I can’t wait to get better at it. Have you learnt any new skills and if so what were they and if not is there a particular skill you would like to learn? Let me know in the comments below. I hope you have enjoyed this post. All my love Mariah Xx
