Hi everyone Music is one of my passions. I have loved it from since I can remember and I think that comes from my Dad who is always listening to music and just loves it so much. My Dad is like a music encyclopaedia - anything you want to know about music and I can guarantee he'll probably know it. In the last couple of years my music tastes have varied quite a lot and I like more artists. As I write this blog I'm currently listening to my idol and musical genius Nathan Sykes’ debut album Unfinished Business which I can tell you is incredible and definitely worth a listen. Lets get started, so here is just a few of my favourite albums on my IPod: Unfinished Business Deluxe by Nathan Sykes There's so much I love about this album and I could easily fill a blog on it but here's a brief summary. From Nathan's beautiful soulful voice that makes every track pure heaven to listen to, to the amazing lyrics. I could listen to this album all day every day and still love it. I’ve had the privilege of hearing some of these songs live when Nathan did a charity gig last May and they sound just as amazing live as they do on the album. Certain songs I hear remind me of that day and it makes me smile. Nathan is not just an amazing singer but a talented songwriter and I can hear the passion and love he has for music behind each song. I could talk about this album all day and about how much it means to me. I have many favourite songs but if I had to pick one it would be There’s Only One Of You. I love the sound of Nathan’s voice in this song, the harmonies are heaven and this song really showcases Nathan’s soulful voice and amazing songwriting skills. Thank You Deluxe by Meghan Trainor I love this album a lot, Meghan is my queen. Listening to this album and Meghan’s first album Title I can hear how much Meghan has grown as an artist and songwriter and that makes me smile. I have so much love for this album and at how sassy and happy it makes me feel when I listen to it. I find it really hard to pick a favourite song from Thank you, because I love them all in their own way and changes depending on my mood. Nine Track Mind by Charlie Puth My twin sister Kloe showed me this amazing album and I can see why she fell in love with Charlie’s voice, as it is so powerful and dreamy. This album is a real treat for the ears - from each lyric to the instruments it is a work of art. We Don’t Talk Anymore featuring Selena Gomez is definitely my favourite track from the album. From the minute it starts and I hear Charlie’s angelic voice and that guitar in the background I immediately smile and then I hear Selena’s beautiful voice and everything’s complete. Everything about this song makes me smile. A highlight for me was when I heard We Don’t Talk Anymore in Charlie’s dressing room on his tour in May it was like all my dreams had come true. He sung it acoustically with just him and a guitar and I just loved how amazing his voice sounded. Instead of singing Selena’s part he beat boxed it and I was blown away at how someone could do that with their voice. I wish I could go back and relive that amazing day. Charlie can do so many amazing things with his voice and is one of my favourite artists. The Wanted by The Wanted This is where my love for music grew and I have never looked back. I loved All Time Low and I remember at the time thinking “they're good I wonder what else they’ve got up their sleeves”. Then I heard Heart Vacancy and I was hooked, I knew I had to have the album. This album fills me with so much happiness and I truly believe that every lyric tells a different story to me. I often listen to this album and reflect on things and their voices give me strength. I find it really hard to pick a favourite song from this album because they are all so good and each of them in their own way is my favourite and will always have a special meaning to me. Word Of Mouth by The Wanted After two years of waiting for this album we finally got it and it was so worth the wait. Out of all three of The Wanted’s albums this is probably my favourite album. In my opinion this is definitely the boys’ best album to date because it feels like they had more of their own free run with the writing and producing of the songs. I love the sound of the boys’ voices on this album and I will never get tired of listening to them. Whatever emotions I’m feeling I guarantee this album will have a song on it for me. I love how the boys have contributed their own feelings and experiences to this album and it gives a more real and honest feel to it so I can feel myself relating to them. As the band has grown I feel like my musical style has grown along with it. I find it so hard to pick a favourite song from this album because they are honestly so good, it’s like picking a favourite child you honestly cannot do it. Word Of Mouth will always be my favourite and go to album and it will always have a special place in my heart. Battleground by The Wanted In this album I can hear how much they have grown as a group and as individuals. Their voices are much more relaxed and effortless . I feel like the boys really found their sound in this album and it definitely sounded more them and that shows throughout the album. I loved this album so much and I was over the moon when I got it for my birthday (thanks mum!). Illuminate by Shawn Mendes
I definitely prefer this album to Shawn's first album. I feel like this album is more me and I find it easy to listen to, meaning that I don’t have to have to try hard get the lyrics, they just flow and are really catchy. I appreciate the rawness of Shawn’s voice and can feel myself relating to the lyrics. Illuminate is a real treat for the ears; I really like the sound of this album A Head Full Of Dreams by Coldplay WOW what an album this is! When I listen to this album it releases my inner free spirit and makes me feel super happy. Coldplay have a way of making every song a joy to listen to and this album confirms that. Revival by Selena Gomez This album gives me so much empowerment and I can’t help but love every song. My two favourites are Rise and Nobody and they couldn’t be more different. Rise is a catchy lyric, upbeat pop song and Nobody is a powerful ballad which brings a little tear to my eye, it’s a beautiful song and Selena’s voice sounds so pure on it. I hope you have enjoyed a little insight into my favourite albums and why I love them, I have loved blogging about a topic I am very passionate about. Do you have a favourite album that makes you happy? Let me know in the comments below. All my love Mariah Xx
